NFIP Temporarily Extended Through March

The National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) has been temporarily extended until March 23, 2018. This extension is tied in with the funding for the federal government. NOMAR, along with the National Association of REALTORS®, Louisiana REALTORS®, GNO Inc, and other partners are working hard to push for a long-term, multi-year extension.

There is a continuing chance that another government shutdown would cause a lapse in the NFIP. We will keep you informed as more information becomes available, but you can be prepared by reading this information on how a government shutdown impacts real estate.

Take Action To Protect Middle-Class Homeowners!

In Washington, DC, the House and Senate have each passed their own versions of Tax Reform. Now, those bodies are meeting to do what REALTORS® do every day - negotiate. As the two sides meet for negotiations, we need to stand together as REALTORS® to encourage them to do two things:
1. Retain the current law on Mortgage Interest Deduction to maintain a total cap of $1 million on primary and secondary homes; and,
2. Retain the current law on Capital Gains Exemption of up to $250,000 for single filers and $500,000 for joint filers who lived in a primary residence for two of the previous five years.

Take the call for action NOW!
