NAR Issues Flood Insurance Call for Action
NAR yesterday issued a Call for Action in support of legislation delaying the phase-out of federal flood insurance premium subsidies for owners of some types of properties. The "Homeowner Flood Insurance Affordability Act," H.R. 3370 in the House and S. 1610 in the Senate, would give the Federal Emergency Management Agency time to resolve problems associated with changes in federal flood insurance premiums and undertake a statutorily required affordability study, among other things. Share link to the CFA with your members. Separately, NAR Past President Moe Veissi testified before a House panel yesterday in support of the bills. "Only the first round of rate changes have taken effect and already property owners and REALTORS® across the country are reporting dramatic increases well beyoung what was imagined and certainly beyound congressional intent," Veissi testified.

Invoices were mailed to all brokers at the end of September. If you have not received your invoice, please contact your broker. On December 1st, a $50 delinquent fee will be assessed if your dues have not been paid in full.
Payments may be made on-line, by mail and must be postmarked by 11/30, or dropped in our mailbox at our Metairie or Mandeville location to avoid the delinquent fee.

New Orleans Real Estate & Records Division has asked the PRC to help staff a few properties that will be for sale through the City's Surplus Property Auction. The PRC has had a few agents' staff open houses for surplus properties in the past, which has worked well. The open house dates are Friday, Nov 22 & Friday, Dec 6, both 12:00-2:00pm. Last Homebuying Course Of The Year
Realizing the need to simplify the path for citizens to achieve, "the Dream of Homeownership", Sulli Educational Services, Inc. is sponsoring a 12-hour certified homebuyer program. The English course is Saturday, December 14th, 10:00am to 6:00pm and Sunday, December 15th, 1:00pm to 5:00pm. You must attend both days of the course. All 12-hours are necessary to receive a certificate. The program is $80.
At the end of the course students will receive verification of training that within income limitation opens the door to the various programs in assistance if eligible, Home Funds, Bond Money, various grants in each parish, soft second funds and other grants that help them with their down payment or closing cost. Assitance is subject to credit and income guidelines. Classes will be held at the Hispanic Resource Center located at 4312 Florida Ave., Kenner, Louisiana 70065.

The NOMAR food drive for Second Harvest Food Bank has been extended!!! We are going to continue to collect food items through December as we work to collect over A TON of food for area families. With your help, we have already dropped off over 1500 pounds of food to Second Harvest Food Bank. Let's keep the donations rolling in through the holidays! If you have already donated, we thank you and we ask you to continue your efforts. Remember, you can drop off food items at NOMAR anytime you attend a meeting, class, or are in the area, or you can arrange to have donations picked up from your office. If you would prefer to make a financial contribution, a $10 donation equals 35 pounds of food and provides 28 meals to families in the metro area. Checks can be made payable to Second Harvest and can be mailed to or dropped off at the NOMAR (Metairie) office.
