NAR Call for Action: Don't Tax "Phanton Income" on Short Sales
NAR is asking for your help on "The Mortgage Forgiveness Tax Relief Act". The income tax exemption on mortgage debt forgiven in a short sale or a workout for principal residences expired at the end of 2013. Without immediate action by Congrees, disressed homeowners will have to pay tax on "phantom income" from forgiven debt. This is not only unfair but harms families, neighborhoods and communities.
CLICK HERE to urge the House and Senate to act on this before the end of 2014 to help provide certainty for struggling homeowners and stability for our nation's housing markets.
