REALTOR® Safety Workshops and Self-Defense Seminar

In an effort to raise awareness about the unique dangers that REALTORS® face at work, NOMAR is hosting two safety workshops. These workshops will be held in Metairie on September 8 and in Mandeville on September 9. These workshops will be taught by NOMAR 2016 President Lesha Freeland and NOMAR 2016 Secretary-Treasurer Cindy Callais. To register for the Metairie workshop, click here. Additionally, we are excited to announce our partnership with Mushin Training Center in Harahan! Mushin is a mixed-martial arts and self-defense gym that have created a specialized self-defense seminar specifically for REALTORS®. This seminar will be on Thursday, September 15 at 11 a.m. at their location in Harahan. The self-defense class will be limited to 100 participants. At just $25 per person (paid at the door), this seminar is sure to fill up, so make sure you register today!

Orleans Parish Insurance Workshop

Orleans Parish has partnered with FEMA to hold an insurance workshop in your area. Flood insurance agents, real estate professionals, lenders, builders, and surveyors are encouraged to attend to gain a better understanding of:

  • Where the changes are occurring on the new flood maps;
  • The Newly Mapped Procedure and Grandfather rating options;
  • Policy Conversion and retaining customers whose risk is reduced;
  • Impacts of reform legislation and upcoming changes to the NFIP; and
  • Using new tools and resources to assist you.

There is no charge for this workshop and we encourage you to share information about this event with other flood insurance agents, lenders, surveyors, builders and real estate professionals.  Space is limited, so mark your calendar and click the registration link to attend.

Orleans Parish Tax Rolls Close TODAY

Orleans Parish tax rolls are open through the end of the day. Property owners who wish to appeal can visit City Hall, the Algiers Courthouse, Lakeview Christian Center, or Uptown River Garden to speak with staff from the Assessor's office.

Xpress Key Alert Feature

Did you know you can send a Distress Alert with your Xpress Key with the Alert Feature?

These alerts are designed to be sent out in real-time, as quickly as you can receive a text message, is how long that alert takes to reach their designated contacts.

To set up the alert feature, you must you go into your SupraWeb account and set up who you want the predetermined message to be delivered to. Then, when the alert button is pushed and held for about three seconds, the email is sent to the recipient’s email address immediately, as long as the agent is within cellular coverage.

Code of Ethics Cycle 4 is Due

All REALTORS® must take NAR’s Code of Ethics - Cycle 4 training sometime between Jan. 1, 2013 and Dec. 31, 2016. To ensure that you do not get suspended with no services, complete your Code of Ethics - Cycle 4 now – before time runs out.

Don’t forget – Code of Ethics classes at NOMAR are FREE until Oct. 1st when they will cost members $5 an hour!  If you do not know if you have completed your Code of Ethics training, click here to download the list.

Condolences for…

Patrick Lane Prigmore, son of REALTOR® Jim Prigmore of EZ Realty, who passed away on August 8, 2016. Services were held on August 13 at Lakeview Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Michael Special School or the Down Syndrome Association of Greater New Orleans.
