This year's theme is Superheroes and Supervillians, so be sure to gather a team of your most menacing villains or bravest heroes and dress to impress!

Legislative Session Updates
Thank you for supporting the recent Calls for Action issued by NOMAR and LR! Thanks to your response, SB 162 passed the Senate and is on its way to the House for consideration. While the two tax issues mentioned in LR's alert aren't quite gone, the opposition to them is quickly growing. Please be on the lookout for additional Calls for Action as session continues and be sure you're signed up to receive CFA text alerts by texting REALTORS to 30644.

NOMAR and UNO Request Applications for the 2017 "Larry DeMarcay Scholarship"
NOMAR is seeking applications from UNO students who are pursuing a career in real estate and need financial assistance. Applications are due by June 1, 2017. The winners will be selected by the NOMAR Board during the week of June 5.

LR Designation & Certification Summer Camp
The Designation & Certification Summer Camp is an educational event designed to elevate the knowledge of real estate professionals looking to invest in themselves and better serve their clients. This weeklong program is designed to offer a variety of topics from the industry's leading instructors and will provide many opportunities to network with attendees from all over the state.
The event will be held at the Golden Nugget Hotel & Casino in Lake Charles, LA on June 12-16.

UNO's Economic Outlook & Real Estate Forecast for the Northshore Region
The focus of the northshore UNO Economic Outlook & Real Estate Forecast Seminar will be on the 2016 floods that affected the northshore. The commercial and residential panels will include members of the insurance industry to address issues related to each of these real estate sectors.
The event will be held on Friday, June 9 from 8 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. at the Clarion Inn & Suites Conference Center, 501 N. Highway 190, Covington, LA.
Condolences for…
Madelene Melancon, wife of Jeff Melancon and mother of Jason Melancon of RE/MAX Synergy, passed away on May 10. Services will be held on May 16 at St. Charles Borromeo church in Destrehan. Visitation begins at 9:30 a.m., with mass following at noon.
John Michael McGinnis, father of Kelly Dreher of GARDNER, REALTORS®, passed away after a long illness. Services will be private.

Did You Know?
The National Association of REALTORS® requires that each of its members completes Code of Ethics training once per cycle. The current cycle (Cycle V) as established by NAR is January 1, 2017 - December 31, 2018. You must complete Code of Ethics training within this cycle - whether you've taken it in the past couple of years or not - to remain a member in good standing.
NOMAR has a Code of Ethics class in Mandeville and in Metairie each month. Check out the monthly calendar on our website for the schedule. Classes are free through September. Don't forget - if you take your Code of Ethics training with a provider other than NOMAR, send us your certificate!
