September 18th - Learn How to be a Commercial Tenant Rep
Save the date ... Thursday, September 18th is "Rookie School". CID is bringing in Gregory Schenk to teach his Relationship Approach to Business: Tenant Representation A to Z. Course is geared towards agents in the business two years or less.
Agents will learn the difference between a transaction approach to business and a relationship approach to business; how to develop those relationships; and the history of tenant representation - why it started, whether they should be in this niche or not, by itself or with the listing side of the business. The agent will learn about lease clauses and why "mastering the market and process" is so important.
Agents learning this technique will be able to help their clients through the process of a lease renewal or relocation to lease, purchase or invest and will be better prepared to save the clients time and money!
CE Credits: 3
Cost: $50 for CID members and $100 for non-members

Donate until August 15th - School Needs Children's Books!
Six years ago, KIPP Central City Primary opened with their first class - 96 kindergarteners. They have since grown to 525 students in grades K-4 and are now concentrating on raising expectations for the students by improving the learning environment.
Literacy has become their most important focus. Research shows that the more exposure children have to books, the grater their love of reading. To that end KIPP CCP is in the process of creating their very first school library. And they need help to make this dream a reality.
KIPP CCP needs donations of hardback children's books.
As most REALTORS® know, de-cluttering and donating items are part of the steps most people take when selling or buying and moving to a new home. So, please forward this email to your clients and ask for the hardback children's books that they no longer want. It might also be a good time for a little "spring cleaning" at your house, as well!
A collection box will be at both NOMAR's Metairie and Mandeville offices from June 9th until August 15th. Please donate!
NOMAR Board Store
We have many REALTOR® items that may help you in getting that listing sold. Drop by our Metairie or Mandeville office to check out what is new!!!

UPDATE ON SHORT SALES FROM NAR
As reported earlier this week, NAR Government Affairs informed you that on October 1st HUD would be implementing a new policy that would have presented dual agency agreements in FHA pre-foreclosure transactions. NAR has been working with HUD closely to modify the policy. This afternoon HUD reported to NAR that they will re-issue the July Mortgagee Letter and remove all dual agency language (Part Three of the PFS Participation Requirements). The result is that dual agency policy will not be implemented on October 1, 2013 allowing NAR to continue the dialog with agency officials on a formal solution. HUD announced the policy change in reponse to fraud and abuse detected by the HUD Inspector General in the pre-foreclosure sales process. The letters sent to HUD by our State and Local Association Presidents highlighted NAR's concerns about the policy and the disruptive effect its implementation would have on communities across the nation. Thank you for your quick response and assistance. We will continue to keep you apprised of any additonal developments. For any further questions concerning the challenge please contact
"Effective October 1, 2013, HUD would have been implementing a new policy that would have prevented dual agency agreements on FHA foreclosed properties. Not many REALTORS® and Brokers were even aware of this new policy, however, NAR has been working very diligently to get this replealed and has succeeded. You all should be very proud of your Political Action Groups with NAR, they are always working for your best interest. Well done."

Attention Jefferson Parish Voters:
On Saturday, October 19th VOTE YES to PW School Board 7 Mills Renewal!
The renewal of the existing millage of 7 mills is vital to Jefferson Parish Public Schools! Here are some facts on the renewal:
What will happen if the millage is not renewed?
JPPSS estimates that the loss of the $23 million generated by the millage will result in the loss of 320 teachers, or about 10% of teaching staff, causing an increase in the number of students in each class. Additional losses would include pre-K classes, middle school athletic, arts, and music programs, and a delay in technology upgrades and modernization of classrooms.
VOTE YES on October 19th to the 7 mills renewal and continue your support for public education!
